Default No "any key answer" ?? :(

Please Login to Remove!

Hello - I am very accustomed to not having to put my glasses on to find the one key to answer a call, being sight impaired, and just hitting any key to answer a call.

I cannot find the setting for that on my Blackberry Pearl 8130.

Does such a setting exist on this device? I admit, I would not have purchased this if I had known there was no way to do that, or to at least have it answer when pulling it from the holster.

Maybe it is a "hidden" feature? I hope..

Very funny.

I need a real response to this question; I've googled and found no useful info, even conflicting anwers with one poster on a Yahoo forum saying it can be set up and another poster saying it cannot.

Please don't respond to this with sarcasm anymore; I need the any key answer feature or to return this device and I need to find out if there is a way to make it happen that is not in the user manual.

Google, lol?

Phone dial screen > menu > options > General options > Auto Answer Calls = Out of holster.

I can pick up my phone and hit the green phone key without even looking down at the phone. It's even easier on the Pearl. If it's ringing, removing from holster is the easiest but if it's not in the holster just hit that green phone key. I don't jockey with the trackball and reading the screen.

I have the implanted BT chip in my temple, i just tap my tample and answer. If I don't get it soon enough, the vibrate makes my eyes wobbly, sorta like your Bean dude there!

The "any key answer" was very useful for me with my other phones because I could first look at the caller i.d. then decide if I wanted to take the call. But that necessatated putting my (very thick) glasses on first to see the display.

Out of the holster answer is what I have to do now, thanks to finding out in here about it.

Sight impaired folks still want the good stuff like Blackberries, by we do have to find the best ways to get functionality sometimes.

Thank you for your responses here.

I just moved my wife from her 8100 to an 8300, and the FIRST question she called to ask me the very next morning was "on my other BB I could tap any key to answer, on this one i can't. WHY????"

I don't know why, maybe that was a simple 8100 feature? I still have the 8100, I will look and see.

Hi.
My wife owns a pearl as I have an 8830. I did not have her device in front of me and I didn't know your understanding based on merely reading your content. My intent was not to offend. Good luck. : -)

google is useful in getting you here. anything else is fairly worthless on it. if you need any answers its best to BlackBerryForums.com : Your Number One BlackBerry Community - Search Forums here then ask questions if you cant find it with the search.

I have never understood Any Key Answer. Why do most phones have it? Within 30-45 SECONDS of owning a phone anyone should know exactly where the answer button is without even looking at their phone.

Seriously do people just like to mash the keypad to answer?

In my case it has to do with getting the call answered right away, sometimes after a quick donning of the spectacles to look at the caller i.d. if I'm not already wearing them.

Would you go out onto a city sidewalk and yell at everyone because nobody would stop and give you directions? If you would, do you think that would increase your chances of getting someone to help you?

I am hearing impaired, but I didn't go on the internet and DEMAND that someone provide me instructions on how to use the vibrate and LED flash features on my blackberry. I used search features here and on google and if all else had failed I would have asked a question and hoped that someone offered to help. If someone has a little fun with your post at your expense, I think it's unreasonable to get demanding about getting an answer, it makes people less willing to offer help IMO. Lastly (and what bothers me the most) is that it tends to give the general public the impression that impaired people are needy.

Sorry if this offends you, just my two cents.
