Default Memory card recomendations?

Please Login to Remove!

Looking to get a MicroSD card soon and I wanted to know if anyone knows whats the max size the pearl can take? Are the 4GB too large and won't be recognized by the pearl. And can you recommend a brand (i.e. kingston, sandisk etc...) What have you guys had success with?

8gb for your 8130. any brand name card will work fine. Kingston/Sandisk/etc are good.

8gb... on devices of 4.3+ OS, such as the 8130.

Yes, those both are very good brands.

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)

I went with sandisk because when I picked up my device at VZW store that was the only product of choice and the packaging had my carrier's label on it.

Amazon.com: SanDisk 8GB microSDHC Card (SDSDQ-8192, Bulk Package): Electronics

I picked up one of these, it works great. (No retail packaging, but i doubt you need a user manual to know how to work a flash card )

When i bought it they were only $40, now there up to $50, but if you look on most websites a card this size will run you 2-3x the current price.

I am a sandisk fan but they are really probably all the same.

any size SHOULD work fine, but I know that with Sprint, if you use anything over 2GB with the pearl then Sprint wont take any responsibility for issues/damage that may result (reguardless of if its because of the card or not). If you don't care about that then any size card that fits your phone will do you nicely.

That's bunk. Whoever told you that was out in left field. All Sprint BB's (that accept SD cards) have supported up to 8gb cards.

According to the sprint knowledge base, this is what I have:

We only support cards up to 2 GB (gigabytes) in size on the BlackBerry 8130e devices.

If the customer has been using a 4GB or larger and it no longer works, apologize and then educate them of the 2 GB size limitation.

So.... yeah.... dunno. I'm sure you're right, but according to sprint, this is what they go off of.
