Default Deleting Address Book

Please Login to Remove!

I am a newbie to this Forum and to BB in general having recently moved to the BB Pearl from Tréo 650. I work on Macs every day so installed the "PocketMac" application to sync my address book, calendar, etc.

I have a large address book (over 1,300) and I synced my Pearl without much thought as to the size of my address book. I would really only need to access about 100 contacts, which in hindsight I should have just manually entered.

Is there a way of deleting the entire address book and starting again?!?!

Please provide me with details as I'm just starting to make my way around this . . . I'm missing my Tréo. Willing to learn, but it seems to be not that user friendly.

Thanks.

Welcome to the BBForums!

I am not postive on the Mac/PocketMac how to completely delete the Address Book, it can be done in Desktop Manager on the PC. Are you running Parallels with XP that you could load DM?

Not running any PC programs whatsoever . . .

I've read that it can be done through "Desktop Manager" however haven't found that through any Apple links.

It is a PC only application, hence my question.

The link, should you proceed.

I thought Mac could easily run bootcamp or parallels, those in my office do.

I am going to try this to remedy my problem, however, it is missing step #3. Me being a newbie-I don't want to mess my BB up and have other issues. What would step 3 be?
Thanks!! :]

How to Clear/Delete all your Address/Calendar items at once
From BlackBerryFAQ

If you are having errors in your Calendar or Address Book on your BlackBerry, and you wish to delete the entire Calendar (or Address Book) database on your BlackBerry, follow the directions below. Make certain you have a good copy of your Calendar or Contacts elsewhere, as this procedure will complete delete ALL Calendar entries and/or Address Book entries on your BlackBerry.

1. Open Desktop Manager on your PC.

2. Open up Backup/Restore >Advanced

3. Highlight on the right side your Address Book database (or your Calendar database) and click the arrow in the middle pointing to the left. This will copy the information over and prepare it for back-up.

4. Once the back-up has completed, hit the Clear button at the bottom to erase and clean out the entire address book database (or Calendar database).

5. After it's finished, it will ask you if you want to save the back-up you've created, say yes and check the device to make sure the address book has properly cleared out. Now, resync the necessary contact information and you should be set to go.
