So, I've had my Pearl 8130 pink for I think 3 days now, and I'm kinda getting the hang of things, and reading questions and what-not in these awesome forums. Something I don't get because I'm still a total newb, is what is a PIN? And what is it used for? I honestly have no clue.

PIN is similar to paging someone, it's how RIM started their blackberry messaging crossed with personal organiser.

If you go to the messages menu, then click 'compose pin', type in the pin i just gave you and write me a message (of course tell me who you are, i.e. from the forum)
As it works over the blackberry wireless network as opposed to your carrier, its free =)
