Default Don't really want to sync - 05-11-2008, 03:08 AM

Is PocketMac free? I don't really want to sync my BB to my computer. How can I add apps and update my OS without syncing with my computer and without having a data plan?

You may have the option to download applications over-the-air (OTA). Depends on whether OTA dowload is provided or not. But you will need a blackberry data plan to do it.

You will not be able to update the OS without a computer.

I know zip about pocketmac, but that should be an easy enough question to find the answer to.

If you don't mind my asking, why suh the aversion to syncing?

A better question is why do you even want a BB if you don't want to sync or want a data plan. Might as well get a Palm and save yourself some money.

Well the 8100 is a great phone. It's awesome for just calls/sms text.

I just don't really want to sync because I own a Mac. It seems like phone companies don't make very Mac-friendly phones. My last phone, the LG Prada phone, wouldn't even sync in mass-storage mode properly. Every time I tried undocking that phone, it would re-sync like instantly, so the only way I could disconnect it from my Mac was improperly. I don't want to have those kind of problems with my 8100.

Just use Missing Sync from Markspace. Long-time mac developer makes excellent sync software for the Blackberry Pearl on a mac. No need to worry - you will be quite happy with it.
