is there any type of free software for 8130 pearl like a task manager or notes
or is there something on my bb other than voice recording that will work like this
still kind of new to bb and still exploring

Actually, on the homescreen > Menu > Show All, in case some apps are hidden.
But you do have a native Task app and memo pad add on the BB. They could be in an Applications Folder.
