Default Viewing pictures on 8120 causes a reboot. Even the Preloaded pics. - 05-21-2008, 03:45 PM

Yesterday my 8120 started rebooting on when I tried viewing the pictures that I took on it. It also reboots when viewing pictures stored on the phone memory and the card memory.

It's also rebooting when I try to access the Media Card under
Settings >> Options >> Media card.

So far I've reformatted the Media card using my PC and rebooted the BB by pulling the battery.

I've haven't had any luck searching this forum for similar problems. Hopefully somebody has an idea

Thank you,

Hi.
Did you try formatting the card in the BB?

I was reading about media card issues & rebooting on the 8120 and one solution was to format the card in the device.

Try it and report back.

I wish I could format it on the BB. When I go to the Options on my BB and select Media Card, my BB reboots. It does this even if there isn't a card inserted.

I'm thinking about reloading the OS.

Is there a newer OS? It might fix any bugs in the current OS.

I downloaded the newest OS available for the phone and installed it. I'm still having a rebooting problem but I’m beginning to think it's not related to the media card. Every time I view a picture on my phone it reboots. It even reboots when viewing the Preloaded Pictures.

Think I need to change the subject of this thread

Very strange but I've read of quiite a few constant rebooting problems with this device. It happens to some when making calls, loading IM + or using media, some folk have fixed it by reformatting their media cards and some have replaced their devices. Someone also said that tmobile/rim had this down as a known issue and were working on a fix.

I do hope you manage to get it sorted.

Had da same issue when I 1st put my card in the 8120, from out of my 8100. Put the card in an SD adapter n copy the contents 2 ur PC. Then use ur PC 2 format the card. After format, put the data back on the card. That solved the problem 4 me. Hope dis helps.
