Well guys i have tried everything there is to try and still nothing works and i have tried four different computers so there is only one more left in my house to try and i am not very excited about even trying it because of all the past outcomes.
I am wondering if there is a setting on the phone i need to adjust or something for my computer to recognize it because its not the usb cord, i tried my mp3 player on the cord and i reads almost instantly.
Please help me

This is the exact same problem im having. And like you nothing seems to work. Maybe its a VAIO thing... But I'm havin the same feeling.. thinking i should just go get a centro :-/

EDIT: I took out the battery and hooked it up. the driver installs but cant use anything on DM cause it says device not connected. But if i put the battery in it goes back from "Blackberry Smartphone" to "RIM composite device"

Im online with vaio support now, will update if they help.

EDIT: Vaio support is useless. It does appear that the PC thinks its a different device with/without the battery in, regardless of if the wirless is on or not. I found the installed driver from when i did it battery off, but if I try to get it to load that driver directly with the battery in it just tells me theres no drivers of my device.

Bahamian,

I am very sorry to hear this. It's not often that a member can't solve a problem here. You might try switching the device at the store. I find it hard to believe it's the device but with it not working on multiple PC's I have nothing left to try. Other than a different USB cord...

Let us know how it turns out and sorry we couldn't get it going.

In that case you might want to try and find a new USB cord and give it a shot first. You can find them cheap. Good luck!

Well i guess this battle is over. It really is the phone guys i tried my friend's pearl on my laptop and it connected instantly and i tried my pearl on his and nothing happened so yes it is the phone that i have only owned for a week now and this thing was bought brand new.

So now my new question is can i send it directly back to the factory because the store exchange says something about 7 days which would be today and im in the Bahamas the store is in Florida?

No, you can't send it directly to the factory, you must go through your retailer who sold you the device.
