Angry My new Pearl wont connect

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys, I am a new BB user, just got my pearl yesterday and it wont connect to my vaio. I am running on XP and despite the fact that this thing is brand new i mean str8 out of the box it wont connect. I have been home all day googling for ideas but nothing has worked yet. So far i have restarted like 6 times, deleted all of the usb drivers like another user suggested, updated my windows and still nothing works.
The Usb cord is connected directly to my laptop and its just not being recognized.
Can some one tell me what to do cause it this point i just want my 369.00 dollars back.

You didn't state if you had loaded the Disk that came with the phone. The Desktop Manager software? You must load it as Administrator on the PC. Install then shut the PC down. Pull the battery on the device and re-insert. After the phone is booted up connect.

well i did install the disk that came with it. Every time i try to connect using the desktop manager it says device not detected. I have restarted since I installed the disk so should i just disconnect the phone and try removing and reinserting the battery?

Did you install it from the Administrator account? If not un-install and re-install using that account. After that fire up the DM and connect. If it fails then hit Options (on DM) and click the drop down. Do you see your devices PIN? If so select it and you should connect.

What makes you think that it is not connecting? Will none of the options come-up on desktop manager? Or are you trying to transfer files? When you hit Options>Connection Settings on the Desktop manager what is listed in the drop down?

Also, do you have any other drives mapped on the PC?

Well i know its not connecting because to the bottom of the dm says disconnected. The options do come up but i cant use them. When i try to use media manager i can see the folders i want to move but right hand side of the screen where the blackberry info should be says "no device connected".
On the connection setting in the drop down is Usb, com3and none. I have been trying to use usb then clocking detect but it says device not found and asks me to make sure im connected.

Just pull it out. That is the official hard reset (pull it while the device is on).
I am venturing into territory that is difficult to troubleshoot but I am concerned about the drivers you deleted earlier from the PC. Can you
right click on you "My Computer" Icon and select Manage>Device manager. Expand all folders and see if you see anything with a yellow exclamation mark. If you find one that appears to be your phone you may want to click and try to repair or download a driver.

I know this must be frustrating but hang in there! Is there any other PC you can try to see if it works?

Move it to another USB port and then re-open the device manager and see if one of those two changes.

You might have deleted the drivers you needed--but installing Desktop Manager "should" have re-installed them right back again.

Reading over this thread, I am a little flustered, too, it seems like you have done it all.

My opinion, when all else fails, disconnect--reboot the laptop from start and the BB (battery pull). Does the BB screen show it charging, at least, while it is connected? If so, that is a good sign.

I strongly suspect that it has to do with you PC rather than the device and taking it back won't solve the issue. I would bypass using BT and try installing on her PC and try connecting. I am willing to bet it will work.
