Exclamation PLEASE HELP! My Pearl has gone haywire!

Please Login to Remove!

OK to start off my husband and I bought our BBs in February of this year. He has the red Curve and I bought the red Pearl. We just got his replaced because his trackball quit working, his new one seems to be doing alright but I don't know how long that will last.

Now mine is messing up. Saturday while I was working, I noticed that my BB kept highlighting the volume/vibrate icon in the top right corner, even if I tried to move the selector away to the other icons on the homescreen. When I tried to use the trackball, the selector kept moving from the icon in the top corner to a random icon in the list on the left. After a while, this stopped, so I assumed (since its a computer) that it was just backed up. However, it eventually resumed acting out like this, and then it started to make some kind of buzzing sound! Its been 2 days now and its still out of whack. I've taken out the battery and I've drained it, and now I'm trying to get to Master Reset but of course--every time I try to use the trackball (which works, and I can click with it) the computer just acts out and continues to move as it pleases and buzz!

I suppose I'll have to get mine replaced but before I do can someone please help me??

Have you tried reinstalling the OS? That might help. It sounds like an odd issue but reinstalling the OS is a good start

Wirelessly posted (magically pimptastik!!!!)

Could be lint or something under the trackball

Turn of pearl

Press firmly and roll it in each direction

With is pressed in try blowing canned air in as well.

See if that works

You can always purchase a new trackball. They aren't expensive.

Obviously you hav the warranty as well.

At the top of the 8100/pearl forum there is a stickied post for newest OS. That will have complete directions on removing and replacing the OS
