Default BB 8100 keys don't work - Help!

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've got a blackberry Pearl thats been great until this morning. Last night I went to bed and the phone was fine. This morning I woke up and none of the keys in the top row worked (ie answer, menu, trackball, back and end). After trying the battery removal fix, everything worked except the menu button. I removed the battery again, but this time none of the keys except the end call button worked!

I'm a total newbie to Pearl, any suggestions would help!

Was the device exposed to Moisture of any kind?

Nope, not that I know of. Seriously went to bed last night, put the phone on the window sill beside my bed. Woke up in the morning and it was acting weird. It was dry and hot last night so there wasn't any condensation build up on the window sill.

I've been fidgeting with it all morning... If do a battery pull none of the buttons work. If I pull it again all of the buttons except the menu button working. Pull it again and we're back to square one as none of the buttons work. It cycles each time!

Under the Options --> About it says its V4.2.0.64 Platform 2.2.0.37

It sounds like hardware to me but it might be something with the OS. You could back it up and then wipe and reload the OS. If you are still under warranty I would take it back to the store.

Thanks Thatzmister2u for your help. If I wipe and reload the OS, will I also lose the information on the SIM card?

It should not affect information stored on the sim card. If you use the desktop manager to backup the phone all data and settings will be identical to what they were prior to the wipe.
