Default BB 8120 Call Log Freeze.

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,
I would like some advice on, why my call log freezes at times, not allowing me to look into my call log menu as this happened more frequently with my first 8120 which I returned for a second device. When this happens, the only way I can get it to open is by doing a batterry pull.
Kind Regards, tantra.

Sounds like it could be a low memory issue, which the battery pull will help in clearing.

At Options > Status, what is the number at File Free?

maybe your memory is too full

go to your messages and hit menu and view then delete all of the messages in your folders to free up memory

then try again when u get more calls

try the batt pull then try my stratagey(deleting messages, calls, etc)

see if that works

Do you get a lot of phone calls? Let's do this. go into Menu>options>Status and then press Menu>Database sizes and locate the Phone Call Logs Database. How many entries are in there? It's the number to the left of the "\".

You may want to periodically purge old call logs. To to this go into the Message Folder and hit ALT + P. Find a Date line and hit Menu>Delete prior. This will delete the older entries. Pick a date that you can life with and purge the rest.

Let me know if that helps.

Ok, did you already delete the logs or did they disappear? Are you running any third party applications? I am wondering if you have things running in the background that take up your memory and then free when you do a battery pull. Next time it happens check your free memory before pulling the battery. To see what is running in the background hit ALT + Escape and continue to hold the Escape key. Scroll through the list. Anything more that the base five applications is running in the background.

Hi, I clear my call logs often and no 3rd party applications, only pictures and music on my memory card.

My current thought is that memory is getting low regardless of how high it is after a battery pull. If you don't close things properly the applications will continue running in the background and eat your memory. Which is why I would like to know what the free memory is at the time the freeze occurs.

Other than that I don't know...

Maybe Mr. Jsanders will have more wisdom that he can share.

No worries guys and the help much appreciated. All I can see in the back ground when I hit Alt and Escape are these symbols-Messages, Browser, Home Screen, BlackBerry Messanger, Call Log.
Thanks Again, tantra.
