Default txt frustration

Please Login to Remove!

I have an 8100...and honestly never really had a substantial problem with it (knock on wood) until now...when I try to text it's almost like my language setting has been changed because it automatically searches and puts in these words that really don't make sense (ie: trying to type hair and it reverts to gaur)...SO any ideas on how to fix this...if I need to download something fine...I would like to have the texting system that the 8120 has...just any ideas on what to do would be great because it's totally frustrating to try and drive and text or email and you can't do that if you have to constantly backspace and scroll through words.

Thanks!

It sounds like your device is in Multi-Tap mode. When you're composing a text message, press the Menu button and click Enable SureType.

I have this problem as well. My device is not in Multi-Tap it seams like the SureType degrades over time and a battery pull seams to fix it.

Wirelessly posted (8100 Strike 2)

Sure type doesn't degrade, or I have never had a problem.

Check your languages and make sure that you didn't inadvertently switch the input language to something other than English (US).

My girlfriend had the same problem with her phone and when i checked the language setting it was set on Dutch causing all kinds of weird words to pop up. Changed it to English (US) and all is good. I think her son was messing with it and inadvertantly changed it.

Also it might have some wierd spelling (like when i mispell a word which happens alot and inadvertantly save it) in the custom dictionary. I am sure you already checked that though. But just in case.

This happened to me. Over time some misspelled words can make their way into the custom dictionary, and will then always come up when you're trying to spell the word that accidentally placed that word in the dictionary. I usually go through my custom dictionary about once a week and clear out all the incorrect entries.

I hope you're just being funny about trying to drive and text. If not, then stop!
