Default Address Book Not Usable

Please Login to Remove!

I got a blackberry from suncom about 4 days ago . I need to be able to put differant people in differant groups. I can add a new group and add a contact, but the contact goes in my address book twice.? I need to add 3 catagories, Customers, Vendors, and Personal . And when i click on say customers, it brings up my customers without bringing up venders or personal. But it wont do that , it puts it in 2 times, one on the main screen and then again under the grouping. Is this the only way the address book works on this phone, or am I missing something here? I bought the phone to stay orginized.

If the phone book wont do what I need is there a 3rd party application I can download that is more powerful? If not, it's probably going back.

What you want are the categories, not groups. A "group" is like a distribution list. You can set them up using the "Filter" option in the Address Book Menu.

Ok I made 3 categories, but it still is'nt working right. When I put a new address under venders, it goes into the customers category for some reason. Matter of fact, it wont let me use 2 out of the 3 categories? I make sure the category is checked and highlighted, then I click new address. Put the name in, click back, then save, and wala !, it's nowhere to be found? I have to go under customers to see the name i just put in under venders!

Something else. If I filter the vender category 2 times in a row, it brings up my customer address's. Anyone know if theres a bug in this software? I asked the man at suncom which phone I need to organize and hold a lot of contacts, he directed me to this phone. I did'nt realise it was just a kids toy .

Works well with me for filtering and groups for several thousand contacts. John's description above works.

Kids' attitude = Kids' toy.

Figured out how to get the contacts in and show up in the category list like I wanted. The steps.
1. Click Address Book
2. Menu then click filter
3. Click the category wanted
4. Menu ,add address
5. Menu
6 Category
7. Check Category wanted
8. menu
9. save
10. back to the contact screen
11. menu
12. save
13 wow, are we there yet?

My wife was going to get a blackberry, now after this she says shes going to get something called a iphone. Dont know what that is and dont really care. Now I'v got to figure out how to change the ringer sound as it sounds like something out of star trek. Another 3 days.

I bought a case when I got the phone but Its hard to get out without hitting any buttons. Does anyone know where to get good cases for these? I was taking it out last night and it snapped a picture of my wife. Now shes sending me a bill for $50.

You don't know what an iPhone is? Perhaps it is time you learned to use google.
Google

For editing your ringer sounds, read this: How do I edit my notification tones (profiles)? - BlackBerryFAQ

The RIM BlackBerry cases sold by most carriers are good enough. Several vendors, such as Seido and Forte sell nice cases. Check the sponsor section of this forum.

As far as snapping a picture of your wife, watch your finger on the side conveniene key.

For your adding Addess Book contacts into categories you are just simply making it way too complicated. Don't enter your contacts more than once. Then assign the filter category, and contacts may have more than one category.

Good luck.
