Default BB Pearl without Data Plan

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I just ordered a couple of BB Pearl (AT&T) phones without Data Plan. I really dont want Internet Access and I liked this phone more than any other phone out there and this phone has not costed me anything

I dont want any data access (intentional / unintentional). Can you please tell me what all I need to do ensure that I dont use / pay for the data? I guess I need to do something both in the phone and on the network.

Thanks a lot!

You can turn off all data at Options > Mobile Network > Data = Off.

I know you said you didn't want data at all but if you set the default browser to the hotspot or wifi browser you'll only ever be able to use the web browser when the wifi's active, assuming you're talking about the 8120 on ATT. Just a suggestion.

I do not use the data package through att but do have text messages - Just don't have the data package put on the account. That way if you ever decide to use it you can call cust svc and have put back on.

call ATT and request that they put a block on all data usage.

we have recently had a case where a user was given a loaner (smart) phone while his regular phone was getting repaired. there is no data package on his plan however the internet still works and on his smartphone he was able to rack up $5500 worth of data charges (which we are disputing).

so if you want to sleep well at night and relieve yourself of any liability of accidental usage, request the data to be blocked and document the request.
