Default How to clean the scrolling ball?

Please Login to Remove!

My Blackberry 8100 Pearl scrolling ball is turning quite black (dark) due dirt from lots of uses. Without physically taking the ball out of the device, is there a way or solution I can use to clean this ball? It was very white and clean when I first got it and now it is quite dark. How much is a new ball anyway? The ball still works fine and there is no problem but just looks unclean visually.

By reading the Sticky Note at the top of the 8100 section page...

Yes, I noticed the sticky but it requires that I physically take the track ball out of its position. I'm pretty sure I can take it out but putting it back so that it functions as before is the problem for me that's why I wonder if there are other alternatives.

You might have asked that question in that thread? or there may be alternatives in that thread.

I have used a SLIGHTY (not drippy at all) q-tip with isopropyl alcohol on it, touch to the trackball and wipe gently with a lint free cloth, like a eyeglass lens cleaning cloth.

I have also touched it and wiped gently with an alcohol wipe that is not very moist. Let it dry a few seconds after taking it from the package.

It's no big deal to do, really.

I will give that a try first and if it doesn't work, I may try the option listed in the sticky.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions.
