Default Major help needed - earpiece speaker trouble

Please Login to Remove!

Hey whatsup. Sorry if this has been asked before.

I just got my Blackberry Pearl today, which I had bought off eBay for a pretty reasonable price. Everything on it works fine, and I'm relly happy with it. The face plate didn't have any scratches on it, although the seller said it was barely used for only a week.

Anyways, when I popped my SIM in and made a phone call, I noticed that I could barely hear the person I was speaking to. I adjusted the volume level on the side of the phone to MAX, and the sound was still really, really low. I called a few other people, and I could barely hear them also. The speakerphone sound is fine. It's the volume of the earpiece.

What tips can you give me to help me resolve this issue? I'm getting kind of frustrated. I heard it can be a software issue. My software version is 4.2, but I don't know if it was upgraded or not.

It's been a known issue with the earpiece speaker. They go bad. Yours is most likely bad, too. You can contact HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, Canada’s Cellular Repair Center for a replacement. If you have a T5 or T6 (can't remember which) then you can disassemble the Pearl pretty easily and replace the speaker.

Or contact the seller on eBay about a replacement or return.

I opened up the Blackberry carefully and tried moving the earpiece around a bit, but it seemed to be pretty stuck. How do you take it out? You just pry it out? Isn't it glued on or something...
