Default Sending CID to Bluetooth Car

Please Login to Remove!

I was wondering if there is an option to send Caller ID's to our bluetooth car kit.

I've currently paired my BB8100 with the Car (Renault Koleos/Carminat). An incomming call shows the number and not the name..

Is the BB8100 providing this service? How to enable?

It's usually a feature of the car kit. The car kit either needs to have an internal address book programmed or it may be able to receive the entire address book from the Blackberry itself.

Think I've found some info:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Details

Contacts in the BlackBerry device address book can only be shared with Bluetooth enabled car kits. Contacts cannot be shared with any other Bluetooth enabled devices (e.g., other BlackBerry devices, third-party Bluetooth enabled devices, or Bluetooth enabled laptop computers).
How to Share Your Address Book

To share contacts with a paired Bluetooth enabled car kit, complete the following steps on the BlackBerry device:
On the BlackBerry device Home screen, click Options > Bluetooth.
Display the menu and click Options.
Set the Address Book Transfer field to one of the following options:
All Entries - Share all the contacts in your BlackBerry device address book
Hotlist Only - Share contacts that you have had contact with recently over the phone
Note: When paired with a Bluetooth enabled device that is not a car kit, the Address Book Transfer field can only be set to Enabled or Disabled.

Display the menu and click Save.

Additional Information

For a list of supported Bluetooth enabled car kits, see KB04009.

Default Sharing Address book with bluetooth car

were you able to share your address book? I got "unable to locate object push server" when trying to transfer while the phone was paired.

Disconnect the phone then transfer your phonebook and then pair it back up.

When I was trying to transfer my contacts to my 07 Camry I kept getting errors and it was driving my crazy so tried 1 last thing. Pair the the phone like before and then disconnect the phone from the car and then go thru the menu to transfer your contacts to the car and then reconnect the phone. Some cars can't have both functions going on the same time. Hope that helps.

You may need to upgrade the O/S to get the 8100 compatible with BT2

I had this problem on my own (I have a car with Bluetooth -Mercedes W204- and a BB 8820) and I was struggling with this for several months. I look everywhere on the internet with no answers and I found a lot of people with the same problem. However.... I think I FINALLY HAVE THE SOLUTION:

Here we go:

- On a bluetooth connection you have, basically, two components.
- You have the BB device and the car device.

The key is that the car that is able to receive address book transfers has TWO services:

1) hands free unit
2) Objects Push

The thing is that this TWO services cannot work together AT THE SAME TIME.

Normally, you have the car device activated as a "hands free unit", SO, when you attempt to transfer the address book, you receive the famous message "unable to locate object push server".

The one million dollar question is "how can you switch to "Objects push" mode ? Answer: go to Bluetooth, select your car device, open Options and press for "update list of services" and.... voilá!!! the description "hands free unit" will change to "objects push". At that time you will be able to transfer contacts (obviously setting your car device -in my case- to receive those contacts).

Be careful: once you finalized the transfer, you must deactive the car device for receiving contacts and, on your BB, update again the list of services to get your "hands free unit" again because, if not, you were possible will be having problems on connecting over the bluetooth (another common problem I saw in several posts).

And that´s it. It worked for me so, pleae try it and Enjoy!! By the way, you don´t need to update your OS....

Cheers from Argentina.

Diego
