Default BES Activation questions

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I'm prepared to activate BES email (have PW and everything) but I'm wondering if the contacts already on my phone will be affected when I do this. I don't really have any contacts in my Outlook, so I don't want the ones on the phone already to be deleted.

Also, I currently have a Gmail account pushed to my phone. If I activate the BES what will happen with the Gmail messages?

Finally, can I have two separate calendars (1 personal, 1 work) on my phone.

I have a T-mobile 8100 and I'm currenlty running 4.2.1.107

thanks in advance,

JS

Your BlackBerry contacts will be added to Outlook.

Nothing will happen to the existing messages on your BlackBerry devices. For new messages, and messages that you send, it's questionalble. You have to check to see how your BES admin has the devices configured for BIS email.

No, you cannot.

Thanks penguin!

One more question. If I activate the BES and decide to go back to just BIS later on, is it just a simple de-activation process to do so?

thanks

Nope... not as simple as that.
Activating on BES will install an IT Policy on your device which controls the security settings and overlal functionality of the device.

Removing that IT Policy, should you need to, is a manual process which you can read about at blackberryfaq.com
