Default Is there a way to use keypad to choose applications?

...like in the original 4.2 Tmobile Zen list theme?

I just upgraded to the TMobile 8120 (I am a Pearl guy, no Curve for me). I do realize that I would be hard pressed to find the list like the original theme, or even a mod for it after 4.3 came out.

I don't totally need the list but what I loved most about it was that I could open the list and hit letters to roll through programs. For example if you hit the GH (5) key you would hot Gmail, Google Maps, Hearts (game), etc. This really preserves the trackball especially if you use the Blackberry as much as I do.

I also like the ability to dial a number from the keypad so i am not interested in turning that off if that is teh only way.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks...

Not on the 8100.

On qwerty devices, there are homescreen shortcuts as you describe for certain applications and needs, but not in general for third party applications.

I thin you guys are missing the point of my question. You guys are referring to the the Switch Application feature. I am talking about when you are opening applications on your Pearl. With the original TMobile Zen theme the blackberry button to the left the trackball opened up a list of your applications, instead of a row by row view of icons. Once the list was open, you could click on the letters on the keypad to go through your apps.

The last two posts are like someone asking how to turn on turn bluetooth on and someone else answering with how to pair your jawbone headset.

I was looking at the blackberry.alx file today as I was unlocking the vendor themes. I noticed that its says 8100 everywhere in the alx. I also notice that the Tmobile Zen theme on both the original Pearl (with the list) and the current 8120 have teh same name. --> net_rim_theme_100_240x260_b.cod

Has anyone ever tried replacing the 8120 cod file with the 8100? I my be able to try on Thursday or Friday when things slow down at work, but if someone has had an unsuccessful attempt, it would save me time and a possible damaged device.

Here is a sample, including the cod file in question

Sorry about my rant before...

I am sure no one cares about this thread but me but I am going to update with my findings anyway.

I took my old 8100 and upgraded to the latest 4.5 that's out there. I removed the Tmobile Zen (with icon rows) and replaced it with the one from the original Tmobile OS (with the list). As I suspected when it rebooted there was my list. However when in list mode, I clicked the keypad letters and nothing happens. I guess there is some code in the 8100 that enables the keys to interface with that list in that theme.

So again, if anyone else has done something similar and gotten it to work, please respond or PM me. Thanks.
