Default Weird Speaker Issue

Please Login to Remove!

This weekend, I did the cardinal sin and got my 8130 wet. So it's dry and it works...except for the following weird issues.

When I make/receive a call, I can't hear the other person and they can't hear me. BUT....

If I go to the media player and play an MP3, I can hear it in the earpiece...

That would seem to rule out an earpiece issue, wouldn't it? I read on here that the earpiece is a known issue, but it appears to function, at least in this capacity.

Also, if I make loud sounds into the microphone, the other person can hear me, but not during normal speech.

So I guess I'm looking for some opinions. Are the speaker/mic bad? Do I have a bad setting somewhere?

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted

Let your phone dry out some more. Theere might still be moisture jeepind the diaphragm from cubeating enough in the mic. For safe drying out put your phone in a bag of rice for a day or 2.

The speaker works, but the source (phone call) doesn't connect with it. The mic works, just badly. Let it dry out really well for a couple days somewhere with the back off and taken all apart (battery/sim/sc card). you're lucky it works at all.

Update:

It's been a week, still not operating fully at this time. Here's what happened.

Yesterday, I took the phone apart and swabbed it down with alcohol and put it back together.

It didn't help-at first. Later that day I was playing a game and it reset on me out of the blue. I went back to the game and noticed that the sound was now working. So I tried to make a call and lo and behold, it works.

So I turned it off as usual for the night. Tried it this morning and it's back to not working as a phone.

Now, does anyone have any other ideas? I can't understand why it can work, but only works intermittantly. It just doesn't make sense to me.

This will make you very nervous - and should - but it may work.

Set your oven to the lowest possible temperature - less than 180 degrees - if you can, less than 140 (F).

Take the battery, SIM & SD card out, leave the battery cover off & put your BB on a small cookie sheet & stick it in there for 10 minutes. Check to make sure nothing is melting or going crazy. Pull it out and smell it. If you smell melting-plastic vapors, turn the oven off. If you smell moisture, stick it back in. If you smell nothing at all, give it 2-3 minutes to cool, reassemble & try.

It's an ancient ham radio dunked-transceiver trick
