Pearl is deciding to act up suddenly.
I have a Pearl (Obviously.) running the iBerry theme.
All of the sudden, a few days ago, my phone decided to delete my text messages. now, it won't store any messages, just the last one I sent, and eventually that one isnt there anymore either.
Other problems include: When I get a missed call, the "pop up" comes up, I go to view the missed call and it lists one contact that i know didn't call me (I've asked them) this has happened every time I have a missed call, and if they don't leave a voice mail I have no idea who it is..
I don't think it's the theme causing these problems, as I had the theme weeks before the problems started occurring.
any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Low memory, same as the thousands of other posts here of users with the same symptoms.
Thanks, i'll give it a try.
Today was a very upsetting day for me, cell phone number 4 in 6 months!!! Same phone same problem. I upgraded to a Blackberry after having a Razr for a year...The rave about the SmartPhone!! Let me tell you, I have had nothing but problems with the 8320. The memory sucks!! I am a Private Investigator and it has hurt my business!! Loss of emails, text messages, loss of missed calls and so on! No warning no nothing just blank!! I have never seen anything like it! I am with Alltel and at first the salesman was shocked, he had never seen this problem and told me it was a defect in the phone, got me another one...a month later went back same thing he ordered me anew phone...about a month goes by and same thing!!!! I was out of town and was in Alabama with my husband, luckily they had an alltel store, Kim, the salesperson went on line and discovered it was due to lack of memory, so she sold me a memory card...here I am just 2 months into it and the damn thing goes out again!!!!!!!!!! I went to Alltel in a rage, the kid was doing his job trying to convince me it was a simple fix....yea right!!he told me that it was a technical problem that blackberry was working on and gave me a 1800# to call when I got home, he also told me to delete some of my software and unused programs...OH that of which came with the phone.
How in the world are u going to sell an expensive phone and the average person cant ever use it??? Oh by the way, the salesman said his roommate had the same phone and after 3 days had too much memory in his phone!!
This is not a way to run a business! Blackberry shame on you!!!
Well here I sit with a phone that will not store anything, will not keep track of a phone log, erases my messages and I have to pay not only high dollar price for this high tech phone but also have to pay a phone bill and after my husband made a huge deal out of this huge inconvenience we now await for Alltel to send me a new phone overnight!!!!
Lets see what happens next!!
safetyzone, these are problems with your BB that you need to deal with, yourself. Or yes, you will keep exchanging BBs every month.
Everything in life needs the proper maintenance. Your car needs gas, but it also needs oil changes and tire rotations now and then. Or with little warning, the car WILL quit working. I know the analogy is slightly lacking, but the low memory issue is really something you can control, so then you won't be so angry, and you won't feel cheated.
It's a great device and you need to maintain it.
What happens next is, you will have memory loss and lose your emails and all again, unless you deal with it. I can promise that.
the device is designed to receive and send email. not store it. sounds like you left it on the default setting of "30 days" to store your emails and when that 30th day hits, it dumps the old emails.
it's designed to do that to preserve memory. once you've read and/or replied to an email, you discard it unless you specifically tag it to be saved. and if you tag every one of your emails to be saved, you'll soon run low on memory, causing a dump to happen anyways.
it's designed so that you store your emails in your primary inbox on your COMPUTER for archiving. this is why it connects to a server... a server that stores your messages, with the device being the equivalent of a network terminal.
the device is working exactly how its settings dictate it function. the user, on the other hand, didnt bother to read the user guide.
My son had a similar problem - perhaps the same fix as his can help you.
If you don't put a Micro SD memory card in the handset, everything has to fit into the relatively limited amount of installed memory, including any pictures you take ot recordings you make. When you have an SD card, it automatically goes there, freeing up enough base memory to keep your old e-mail from deleting.
In the meantime, if you install and use the Desktop Manager, you can reconcile your e-mail with Outlook, synch your calendar and contacts and memos and notes, manage your applications and make restorable backups of everything on the phone.
Thanks for investigating your alternatives.
Not to mention that I can't successfully install and run the Desktop manager for nothing.... I've tried just about everything (Installing every version even, haha.) it just will not run on my Vista system.
I don't use outlook so it's alright, and I've already set up for my Gmail messages to be forwarded to my BB. So I manage.
The next step is to free up as much memory as possible. Going to transfer all the pictures and things from the phone where I didn't have an SD card, and I'll probably invest in a larger SD card soon, as at the moment I have a 512MB.
Anybody know how large of an SD card the BB will support?
What type and size Media Card can I use in my device? - BlackBerryFAQ
Thank you very much. :D
1. content compression.. set it to 'disabled'
2. content protection.. set it to 'disabled'
3. strength.. set that to strong
save all of that & go back to the main screen.
next go to your options menu in the message area... scroll down to actions (which is under the general options in the message area)
look at keep messages... set it to forever. save all of that and exit again.
you should be good after that. my pearl on at&t has deleted messages randomly, phone calls don't show up even if it says I missed a call.. it happens every once in awhile. but since I changed all of those settings above to what I said in the instructions, I don't have it happen every few days.
make sure that your pictures (taken with the camera or downloaded ones), ringtones, music, videos, etc are all set to be stored on your media card. this helps save some memory on your phone
A little OT, but how much are media cards and where is the best/cheapest place online to order them. I have a Pearl 8110. thanks.
Are you seeing all 8gb of the Media Card?
