Pearl 8110 backlight stays on with Piel Frama Case
I have a Pearl 8110 and it seems to work well.
I recently acquired a nicely crafted Piel Frama case though and since fitting it the backlight seems to permanently stay on. I have checked to see whether the front part of the case is placing any significant pressure on any key but it doesn't appear to be. In addition when I place it in standby mode to save battery power it automatically comes back on after about 30 seconds. Any ideas at all as to what is going on?
I have checked the backlight settings and it is set to switch off after 10 seconds.
When I tried the original blackberry case with the phone all seems fine so it is clearly connected to the Piel Frama case somehow.

Which case did you get? If you're using an older 8100 case with an 8110 then the magnet for sleep/lock/holster is in the wrong place...
Also, Piel Frama doesn't make an 8110 case...

I bought the case off ebay and it was advertised as designed for the Pearl 8130 and 8120. The seller subsequently told me it would also suit the 8110.
Since you posted those pics I have inspected the case closer and it appears to fit well other than there being no gap in the leather for the memory card slot...

Sounds like you got an 8100 case. Is the right side convenience key aligned with the appropriate opening?
The 8100 has a slightly lower right side convenience key location.
No the convenience key is in the right spot!
Hrmm, that IS weird...
Under Options > Security > General Settings - What does the "Lock Handheld Upon Holstering" have in it's option field?
Other than that? I dunno...
If the field is yes...then I'm stumped...
If no, then try switching it to yes and see what happens...
I think I have discovered what the problem is. The magnet in the PF case appears to be stitched in a little higher than the sensor on the BB thus it is not recognizing when the phone is being holstered. I think I will try to get a replacement case.
