I'm a bit of a newbie so don't flame me if I don't articulate this quite right.
A colleague of mine has a new ATT 8120 running OS 18.104.22.168 and Desktop Manager t. Our organization runs Lotus Notes, a BES (not sure what version) and implements an IT policy.
This colleague has attempted to replace his 7100g with this new Pearl 8120. When connecting the 8120 to DM via wire, DM asks if we want to register this new PIN and switch devices. We say yes and the normal install and sync occurs. Addressbook, Memopad, Email, To Do's all work fine. The problem occurs when attempting to enable Blackberry Wireless Sync for the calendar.
His device takes 2 hrs to sync the calendar initially, and then each time he connects the 8120 via the USB cable to sync (i.e. ~twice per day), the BB zero's out the calendar entry count (Desktop Calendar, Options, Number of Entries) and begins a wireless calendar sync all over again. While the 8120 is calendar syncing, it is all-consuming of the devices resources and bogs things down so that the bb is rendered unusable until the process concludes.
We've tried complete re-image, replaced the original 8120 with a second 8120. The interesting thing is that this issue does not exist on his 7100g or my VZW 8130, or 7130e.
I'm thinking this may be a unique bug that is part of the 8120's OS that only comes into play with our organizations unique BES/IT policy? I make that uneducated guess, based on having tried anything else we can think of.
I'd appreciate the thoughts of those around here. Please let me know if I can provide clarifying facts to help troubleshoot.
