Angry Problems with Unlocked 8110 Abroad

Please Login to Remove!

Hi

I have an unlocked 8110 (my provider, Vodafone UK, gave me the unlock code). I'm in Ireland this week and have plugged in an Irish Vodafone Pay as You Go SIM. It works fine as a phone and I can send and receive SMS etc.

However, I'm only getting "gprs" rather than "GPRS". I've called vodafone and they say I'm permissioned correctly, and I've put in the Irish Vodafone APN (live.vodafone.com). I can browse the web, however, both my jivetalk and GMail application can't connect. In addition I can't send or receive email from my BIS email account?

Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do? I'm here for a week (and will be coming here regularly) so am loathe to pay high call charges and data charges by using my UK SIM.

Thanks,
Bogman

Hi

BIS (email , applications etc) will not work on a pay and go sim card.
Your BIS tariff is tied to your Vodafone uk sim

You will only get it abroad if you keep your Vodafone uk sim with an international roaming package.

Strictly speaking you do not have to have an international roaming package but it is better to have that as you get a better rate than you would without it.
