Default Just got an 8100!

Well, my pops recently purchased a Curve and handed the 8100 down to me. Thing is, he has T-Mobile and I have AT&T. Didn't realize it wasn't going to work when I put in my sim card until I realized it was giving me an invalid sim card error.

After doing some research, I found out that I need to buy and unlock code and go through some steps/procedures... I was just wanting to know how I turn off the radio? and if there are places where I can get the unlock code for free? Are there different steps to putting in an unlock code?

Excuse my impatient tendencies.

There is an icon for turn off radio/wireless. Carriers will sometimes unlock the devices for free, but since you don't have service on that device you will need to purchase one. I recommend HorizonWirelessOnline.com - Horizon Wireless, Canada’s Cellular Repair Center

Your Dad may be able to get an unlock code for free from T Mobile. If not try Horizonwireless as mentioned above.

Well I bought an Unlock code and did the MEPPD instructions or w/e I could find on google and nothing happened. Typed in the MEPPD deal and this personalization screen came up with SIM, Network, Service Provider, Corporation and all this other stuff that says disabled next to it...

See:

How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

If all is disabled then the device is unlocked. If it says enabled it's locked. If it still states enable BE VERY careful. After 5 attempts the phone will be permanently locked to the carrier.

Please read my post above. You get 5 tries. That's it. After 5 it doesn't matter if you have the code you cannot unlock it.

I hope that it goes well for you!

I don't think I've tried it 5 times... Well at least I hope not! I still haven't received the code.
