I installed to my BB from previous desktop version the 4.5 no problems. Due to several issues with my phone including a firewall one .. I have requested device exchange meanwhile I reformatted my entire computer and had not installed any blackberry software was going to wait for new phone.

When my replacement arrived and I went to install desktop I realized it was upgraded so I got that version and went to install new OS and it wont work. Any idea if they are compatible? I have done it over and over and over and over again and it wont work keeps loading 4.2

Suggestions would be most helpful!

No go .. I thought I had deleted Vendor I was right .. I delete it and it magically comes back I have reinstalled os 4.5 and it does its thing then usually I do the apploader and it loads .. UMM nope notta trys to reload 4.2

Must be something wrong .. any ideas??

Are you sure you've installed the correct OS? Look in Desktop Manager >Help >About >Device Software Tab and see what OS's are listed and for exactly what models.

Yes sir its the right one .. I found the file with all the stuff to load but it wont do me good If I dont know what to load to pull it all through.

I am in process of uninstalling 4.5 desktop I think that is the issue. Once that is gone I will try to see what happens.

On a side note as I reformatted my computer because I didnt want any of the old remnants of the old pearl on it and I had to attach it to reinstall 4.2 before shipping back. Any advise other than reformatting my computer how to remove those files?? No backups were done on that one by the way just a reinstall of 4.2

I have been using 4.5 Desktop so I don't think that's the issue. After uninstalling Desktop Manager, all your OS's will be uninstalled too.

Honestly, I think you're throwing the baby out with the bathwater. Reformatting a computer because it might have remnants of a pearl...Firewall issue caused you to return a Blackberry...these all are solveable problems.

well .. honestly the berry was acting a fool and I done everything I could do to fix it .. the firewall was the last straw so to say..I never dreamed I would become a pro at installing and uninstalling OS for a phone no less.. lol

I just want to make sure I'm not in danger of passing on any malicious information to the new one .. I reformat my computer quite often lately it seems but I work from home and that is a whole nother bucket of worms.

I uninstalled everything I think .. I am gonna double check ..and I will load back up the 4.5 desktop and leave my OS alone as I just read the frightful SIM issue. With all the other issues I am dealing with .. it was fun while it lasted but I just soon wait for the actual release.
