what attachments are you looking to view/edit/download?

welcome to the forums

mostly datbase files. Do not need to open them just need to save to sd to transfer to laptop.

Unless you use xls databases i do not believe the eOffice software will handle it. eOffice™, DynoPlex Inc.

OS 4.5 and BIS 2.5 allows for downloading/saving email attachments to microSD card. I believe there is a size limit though. Not sure what it is, but for some reason, 3 MB seems like the number.

How big are the database files you are wanting to save?

Sith_Apprentice 07-03-2008 02:29 PM

No OS 4.5 for CDMA users at this time.

jmelton 07-03-2008 02:31 PM

1M max

camaro322hp 07-03-2008 02:34 PM

And I forgot, it is limited to the following file types:

.zip
.txt
.html
Adobe® Acrobat® (.pdf)
WordPerfect® (.wpd)
Microsoft® Word (.doc)
Microsoft® Excel® (.xls)
Microsoft® PowerPoint® (.ppt)
Audio file formats
Video file formats

Are you wanting to save .mdb files?

bigolsparky 07-03-2008 02:38 PM

I tested a Beta version.
I could have it for free and I don't have it.

jmelton 07-03-2008 02:41 PM

The file type is .rdb . i have been messing with the trial version and seem to be able to move the attachments to a file on the sd card which is all i really need to do. I have no problem with using device manager or my sd card to get the information to the laptop. just dont want to spend the money if there is a problem i dont know about.

camaro322hp 07-03-2008 02:49 PM

If your senders can zip the file, and you can wait a while for CDMA OS 4.5, you could do this free/natively.

jmelton 07-03-2008 02:53 PM

have had the phone two weeks so unfortunately i dont have a clue what you mean.

once the files are on the device you can actually move them anywhere you want by going to media > menu > explore. With e-office are you able to download it natively then move it?

camaro322hp 07-03-2008 02:56 PM

Sorry. Operating system 4.5 for CDMA phones (e.g. - 8130) is expected to be released soon. 4.5 for GSM phones is already widely available, although many are beta releases.

Anyway, when 4.5 is available for you to update your phone, you will be able to download the above mentioned file types from emails and save them to your microSD card. (natively)

Make sense?

Sith_Apprentice 07-03-2008 02:59 PM

As long as the file is below 3mb you shouldnt have a problem, when 4.5 OS is released that is.

jmelton 07-03-2008 03:00 PM

thanks guys. the media>menu>explore really helped i could not find how to access the card other than main menu files.
