i was wondering if it is possible to use my blackberry pearl 8100 as a external modem when traveling?

Using BlackBerry As Modem - BlackBerryFAQ

Be sure and check your plan about doing that though. With T-Mobile, it's included in my data plan, but I know a lot of other companies can charge a lot.
