turning off missed call sms alert

every time i miss a call i get a missed call message but then i ALSO get a sms telling me that i missed the call. how do i turn this off?

sounds like an ATT option. Log into your online ATT account. There must be an option to turn this off.

utinaeniduin 07-06-2008 05:08 PM

i really don't think that's the cause. i've never heard of it happening on any other at&t phones, and it appears as instantly as the missed call alert. i will try asking someone from at&t, but does anyone have any other ideas?

Try this, push the green phone button, then push the menu key, then options, then general options, then call logging, then none...

Wirelessly posted (8320 Curve)

I have it on sprint and its annoying as hell. I'm working on a workaround.

It says it was on tmobile too. I had a pearl, curve, sidekick lx, sidekick 3, and a shadow and I never got it once. Ill post back if I can turn it off

For me that's a feature from my carrier. It is supposed to notify me of missed calls when I'm off network - either my phone is off, or I'm out of coverage. But yet, every missed call gets an SMS message. Most annoying.

Do you use You Mail for your voice mail? YouMail - Cell Phone Voice Mail with Personalized Greetings and Online Retrieval This is a feature of youmail, and yes very annoying. you have to disable it in your youmail account and has nothing to do with your carrier or phone.

turn off sms text. I don't know why the most annoying things are hidden in BB.

Block SMS only option

This happens on all cariers and looks like a Curve/OS function. I spent 20 minutes with my Verizon voicemail system to turn this annoying sms off unsuccessfully. Also, there is no option in the BB OS to turn it off. My solution? Very simple, block SMS alltogether. To do this, go to
OPTIONS > SECURITY OPTIONS > FIREWALL> Check SMS and save
Ta Da! No more annoying SMS to notify you of a VM that you already get notified of!!!! Good Luck.

i have this on verizon too. i dont think its really an actual sms, just a notification in your messages. i think its kinda neat sometimes. its not like it bothers me or anything but oh well.

im almost positive its not a carrier issue, its a bb os function

I had the same problem and I solved it.Yes it was very annoying 'coz the carrier charges for the sms messages.

Here is the trick:
press green button>menu key> options>call logging> select "none".

It stopped for me.

Same here.

I have my e-mail and SMS in their respective folders, I then went to call log>menu key>options>call logging>and chose "none". I am no longer informed of missed calls.

The "Messages" folder, when SMS and e-mail are set to be separate, is nothing more than a folder to hold your phone's and carrier's notifications...i.e. BES/BIS reactivation, missed calls, etc. I tried to get as little sent to that folder as possible, since I have no use for it and tend to keep it "hidden" in the apps menu. I'd love for them to do away with that "Messages" folder altogether...since we already have folders for MMS/SMS and e-mail. All the other notifs can get sent to SMS/MMS like on other phones.

You shouldn't be getting charged for your phone's notifications, like a missed call. As for BIS/BES reactivation notifcation, and other carrier notifs sent to the "Messages" folder...you *might* be getting charged for those. I wouldn't know because I have a full unlimited plan, with the exception of my daytime minutes.
