Question pearl to PC via USB not working - 07-08-2008, 05:49 AM

Hi All,
I have installed the Blackberry software off CD on to my laptop.
When I plug my phone in, the PC makes that annoying ding sound that they do when a new device is plugged in to them.
My PC though makes that sound every couple of seconds.
When I go in to connection settings and choose USB, it sits there flicking as if it has detected the the phone and then as if the phone is gone.

Any Ideas??

Olin

What OS? How old is the computer? Have you had any other issues with the USB ports? Are you plugging it straight into the laptop or through a hub?

Cheers!
Myk

Well....i had the same problem and I noticed that all the people reinstalling software installed the same software they had before. If you have the desktop manager WITH ROXIO uninstall it, and download the one without the ROXIO. tell me how it goes

sounds to me like a connection issue. is the phone charging ok? bad usb port or cable perhaps?

i use the cable that came with my nikon camera to connect my pearl to the pc. it always just comes up as mass storage device.

Sounds like the usb port is bad, and your computer is going in and out of detecting the phone. Try a different port and I bet that would fix your issue

Hi everybody,

I have the same problem.

I can't get my 8110 connect to my laptop's usb port.
I have a DELL Latitude D820 laptop with 4 usb2.0 ports.
USB drivers have been uninstalled and re-installed.
USB ports are working fine with other external devices (ipod, digital cameras, HDDs etc).

I connect the 8110 directly to one of the usb ports, it's being identified correctly and then the 8110 reboots and connection is lost.

This does not happen with dektop no-name older PC i tried it with.

Can anyone help?
