VAD suddenly stopped working on my Pearl today...I had used it earlier in the day, and then an hour or two later it wouldn't work.

It's like the phone can't hear me...I initiate VAD and hear the "Say a command" prompt. I say "call john smith" (someone in my phone book) and nothing happens...VAD then says "Say a command" again (and will interrupt me if I don't say my first command quickly enough) and ignores me again when I say "Call john smith" a second time. Then VAD closes.

Anyone have any ideas...I've done a battery pull, no joy. Never had any problems before, no new apps loaded and no changes to my Pearl in a while.

My speaker phone works fine, I tested calling someone on it and they could hear me fine.

I'm mystified!

Try to make a call not on speakerphone. Also you can try to update/downgrade your OS. I am willing to bet its the first one.

I can make calls fine on speaker phone or not, all other functionality related to the phone working on calls (speaker phone and handset) is fine...that's the mystery - the phone only seems to not be able to hear me when using VAD.

I upgraded to the most recent 8130 OS some weeks ago, things have worked fine w/VAD the whole time since then, so I have doubts that it's an OS issue (also haven't seen any issues w/VAD raised on the OS release thread...

I don't mind doing the OS dance, but want to see if there are any other simpler ideas first...

Well - resolved it. Used MaxMem to remove VAD, and then ran app loader to reload it, and when I started VAD after that it worked again.

Still no idea why it stopped working...but at least it's working again.
