Default My roommate wants to sell me his BB Pearl - 07-08-2008, 05:54 PM

My roommate that I don't know very much wants to sell me his 6 months old BB Pearl for 150$.

My phone sucks and we are both using Telus so I thought it might be a good deal, or not....

He says it works perfectly but I've got no way of knowing. And he might be moving out soon. This guy doesn't look sketchy at all but is there a way I can make sure the phone works.

Thanks guys.

$150 is a fair price for 8100 in good condition.

The only way of knowing it works well, is to use it, and if the individual is your roommate and has been paying rent, etc., and yea, doesn't look sketchy... you're just going to have to be the judge of whether it is a good deal.

Does it work? Ask to borrow it 10 minutes and find out.

You have a roommate that you don't know very much? I'll leave that one alone.
As for the phone, the one thing that life has taught me is to trust my instincts. If you have any doubts about the phone, then no matter how good the price is, it won't be worth it because you'll always have a question in your head. And that question will cause you to kick yourself every time you think about it.
Forget about the price. Look at it personally. No matter what the price of something is, as long as you're happy with it, then it's worth it.
Good Luck!

Peace,

Kamau

Ask before making a call or text, ring or text the BB from your own phone. Check that internet/applications work etc.

Also, if you decide to buy ensure that he has the PIN eeleased from his blackberry internet service account to enable you to set up your email.

I don't know... eBay seems the best gauge to me for what something is worth... and on there they are going from around between $85 and $100. If you want a used Pearl, I'd go there rather than spend $150 for one.

Just my .02

These days various carriers are offering Pearls for FREE when you sign up for 3 years. If you really want a Pearl, doesn't this make more sense?

If you have a regular cell with telus, you can go into a Telus store, ask them to call customer service about getting a DATA UPGRADE. You'd have to agree to a new 3 year contract, and keeping data for at least one year. That will get you new customer pricing on a Telus BB. That's how I got my first BB way back when.

And, at the moment, while not advertised, I have it on good authority that Telus is offering unlimited data for $30 a month, until early August.

I agree with the previous poster a few pages up that you have a roommate that you don't know very much???? Hmmm

Anyways I actually got to trade my piece of crap touch phone for the wonderful bb pearl and though I'm in day one I LOVE it already. I have looked over it throughly cosmetically just so the scratches aren't too deep etc. Mine is with a sim card so I was able to make calls and hear the clarity, texting to my hubbies phone, which is HUGE for me as I text a lot and the touch did not allow the freedom the pearl allows. You know your likes and dislikes or at least I would think you do, and also what you look for in a phone go from there

good luck
