Default Trackball Question - 07-19-2008, 08:40 PM

Okay, so I bought my first Blackberry today!

I did have one question though.

When I am using the trackball, I notice that if I barely move the trackball (not push down much and move it), it does not move the cursor on the screen. I especially noticed it when trying to move my cursor up as compared to down. I have to push down slightly harder to move it up. The ball moves with ease, however even though the ball is moving the cursor is not unless I push down a little harder. I changed the sensitivity to 100% in all directions and it still does this. Is this normal?

Thanks for helping the Blackberry noob!

You mean for all the 8100 phones or I just happened to get one like that?

I think I know why mine is doing it and it is the reason you just gave.

Qustion though...On your blackberry, does the trackball move up and down if you barely push down on it? Like push down as if you were going to click enter on something, only not hard enough to press it. Mine moves up and down. Is it loose or susposed to do that? Thanks!

Do you mean the trackball feels loose in the socket?

Not exactly loose, but it does slightly move up and down when I push on it. Is that normal?

To add to my last post, a "light spin" of the trackball does not move the curser...I have to push down just a little while moving the trackball for the curser to move. Also, the ball does slightly have some "play" in it up and down and is not extremely tight..These are my main questions...Is this all normal?

I don't really know what to tell you about that one, except go to options>screen/keyboard, and change the sensitivity of the trackball.... but to answer your question I don't think that is normal... one of the mods could probably answer this better and more accurately.

Sprint CSR... ATT blackberry... IT'S ON!

Being that loose that it will not move with a light touch of the finger on the trackball is not normal.

I would return it and make sure you test the next before you leave the store.
