Default Old/Duplicate messages showing up in my Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

Sorry if this has been asked/resolved (I Hope).. but there are only so many ways I can search on "old messages" "duplicate messages" etc. and not find my problems (IOW - yes, I did search first - and i'm sure its solved under some other search item that I'm just too obtuse to figure out)..

Ok - so my problem is the last several weeks I've noticed that I am getting "old" messages show up in my BB as "new" - IOW, a message I received back in March, suddenly shows up in todays date (say July 21) as a "new" message, of course when I read it the date is the original date of March 8, and of course I already had seen it..

Anyone have this problem and know how to resolve? It's been getting annoying since I'll get like an emergency email show up as new saying "Help, need to reset the server" and of course I immediately have to respond, then realize, oh crap, that was like 5 months ago.. why did the BB just resend it to me as new?

BTW - using BIS and Verizon..

Should I just resend my service books? This seems to be happening with all my BIS email accounts, but seems to be most frequent from my yahoo mail account.

Thanks!

I've been having the same problem, with my hotmail.
Once in a while, i will receive 4 or 5 new messages at once, which are actually old emails from april or may. very infrequent, maybe once every week or two... still quite odd though, not sure whats going on.

I'm getting that more than once in a while, maybe three times a week - I'll suddenly receive a rash of "new" emails that are months old but show up in the current date/time as "new" until I read message and see the date is wrong - but it still stays in my BB for that day as a duplicate email, even though the date on the email is months old.

Has anyone figured out the cause? Is it a BIS issue or something on the handset? If this happens again, I'll get the service books resent, but I'd like to know first if that is the problem rather than just randomly trying different things.

Possibly a problem with the carrier's e-mail server? It sounds like it is not deleting or marking old emails and then is repushing them out.....

It does sound like a server problem, but certainly more people would be seeing it no?

Resending service books and doing a battery pull may be good first steps.

I've done both battery pull and resent service books. I still got an old "new" message this morning. I'm beginning to think it's a BIS problem, anyone know if BIS is hosted by BB or is it software the providers run (e.g., does Yahoo run software so email get's pushed to me, or is it my setup on the BB BIS site that grabs messages from yahoo, with no software running on the mail server side).
