Exclamation Hourglass during standby - 07-22-2008, 10:06 AM

Lately, I have been noticing that my bb has an hourglass that appears for a few seconds when I click any button to have the backlight activate. During this time if I haven't touched my phone in a while and it locks, this is normal what I have to wait for before I can enter my password to let me enter my bb. Is this really NORMAL? Should I be concerned? After a while or waiting, my precious two/three seconds do seem to annoy me. Thanks.

What OS are you using and what 3rd party APPS do you have installed? Also have you checked your free memory? Go into OPTIONS>>>STATUS and you will see how much free memory you have. If it is at 12 mb or less you may want to consider freeing up some memory and see if that works. This process is detailed in the BB FAQs section.

Yes your free memory, as JS has pointed out, is about 20% of what it *should* be. Try to get it to at least 12mb free (you have 2mb free right now).

Ok, will do and keep you posted. Another question, (don't know if this is also part of the problem) my COMPOSE and SAVED MESSAGES icon has been transparent on my phone for quite some time. Is this also affiliated with my space issue??

no, you likely have them hidden. Highlight one and hit menu > unhide.

Ok, I am attempting to delete things that are on my phone. What I don't understand is that I don't have that much on my phone.

I have: Camera, Blackberry messenger, Calendar, Lock, Setup Wizard, Messages, EMAIL1, EMAIL2, EMAIL3, Yahoo Messenger, Google Talk, Compose, Saved messages, Address Book, Browser, Call Log, t-zones, Maps, Media, Voice Notes Recorder, Video Camera, Profiles, Tasks, MemoPad, Alarm, Voice Dialing, BrickBreaker, Calculator, Password Keeper, Help, Search, Instant Messaging, Beamberry, Handango InHand, Google Mobile Updater, Gmail, BBWAP, BBFAQ, Google Search, Google Maps, Google Sync, Goodgle Reader, Google Docs, Picasa, Manage Internet Email, Options, Set Up Wi-Fi. Set Up Bluetooth, Manage Connections, PowerMyFaves, and FACEBOOK (How do I delete FACEBOOK, as I dont see it under applications)?

All of my photos should be on my media card also.

Hi,
Why dont you use Desktop manager on your PC. Connect BB to the USB and remove or install whatever you want to using the application section. I am sure you pretty much know that since you have so many software installed on your BB.

The key to success is to open the lock before someone changes it!!!!!

Besides- you should follow John Clark's instructions on how to free up memory.
