The 4.5 version of BBMaps requires service books. If your carrier doesn't send you the service books for it then you won't get BBMaps.

thats just amazing then.. so no bbmaps in OS 4.5 for me?

what about msn messenger.. i have it installed i have all the service packs for it.. but it just keeps saying connecting never really connects
and i can use my bb browser to download the new 2.1.32 because it keeps telling me to get service pack 2 on my bb browser..

and emulation mode is set to blackberry..

so how do some people have 4.5 and are on Rogers and have BB Maps i dont get this?

I am on Rogers using BES and BB maps works fine. I have a a data plan. Could that be the difference? Perhaps the sevice books don't get pushed unless you have a plan?

Yes, a data plan is required.

Is this a true BB Data plan i need? Or just a generica one? Because i have an old 10meg data plan im using on my device..

And is this how 4.5 will be? No BB Maps unless i get the service books? Because i had everything working before on 4.2

Yes, a true BB data plan is required. It's required because service books are required. Service books only come from having the BB data plan.

I thought Rogers came out with some new BB data plans that were much more reasonable...

Well they did and didnt.. i mean 30$/6gb is fair, but 30$ is still steep for a university student if you ask me.

I personally dont have another 30$ i can throw to make my monthy cell phone bill 60$.

No way around this to get BB Maps on the device to work with my regular data? Getting someone elses service books?

You MUST have BlackBerry data plan in order to get the service books. There is NO workaround.

Try Google Maps.

Yes try Goggle maps. Personally I find it a bit better.

One last ditch effort suggestion. When I first upgraded to .52 I had a terrible time. I downgraded and the re upgraded and low behold everything worked fine.

The first time all my data access got screwed up inexplicably but the downgrade and re upgrade worked and everything is fine
. I have no explanation !!
