Default .gif file conversion

Is there a conversion file/software available to accept a .gif file (moving pictures)? Just curious. I have one on my phone that was sent to me, but I dont know how to have my own work. I receive the error message: The document conversion failed.

Correct, animated .gifs

When I save one to my phone, they seem to no longer be animated, but only look like a .jpg but it still shows it as a .gif

what can I do to continue having my files be animated?

Ok, well I DO have one file on my phone that is animated, and it moves and everything and its a .gif file and 16.3 kb.
