Default OS: 8100 4.5.0.81 / 4.5.0.55 (Multilanguage) - 07-23-2008, 06:38 PM

To download click here.
Scroll down to Blackberry Firmware and find the 8100.

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8100:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

Note: Preloaded wallpapers and custom folder icons are not included in this release.

Note: ColorPearl application is NOT compatible with OS 4.5. Please remove ColorPearl if you load OS 4.5. Failure to remove ColorPearl will cause the notification LED come on and stay on steady until a battery pull. For the new trackball color program made for OS 4.5 Click here.

I've changed the link to go to the main update page. Some of the characters in the link interfere with the forum coding.

Where or what is A1. Is it a bona fide carrier? Or could this be a pirated version that will cause all BB's to unite and overthrow civilization as we know it today?

Can someone please tell me who has tested this firmware - are the main camera bugs fixed, as I have been waiting for a while to try out the 4.5 OS, and I really want to see the HTML email without using an addon.

I hope there are no SIM card issues - I still don't understand on how a SIM card can go bad with new firmware on phone ?

But I hope this firmware is stable and good and works well T-mobile service (using unlocked cingular 8100 blackberry)

Thanks

ah...........everything looks good except one thing.

the red LED doesn flash, when u get missed call....

it was one of my problem on 4.5.0.52,
it kept on flashing after getting a missed call, and not call back..
I guess they decided to just put it out..

I don't remember the led ever flashing when you get a missed call. If it did, it was too long ago to remember.

when you look through the pictures,
you could use 4 and 6 to navigate through photos,
but...that doesn work in 4.5..

Personally I don't think the blinking LED for missed call is that important.
But I'd imagine some people really wants it.

Hmm, camera fixed, but has a lot of bugs. Scanning bar stuck in the media screen. Clock, network and batter label all shift when moving to preferences screen.

Also knocked out my SIM card... first time for that... I'll pass on this one... A busted camera is better than this crap. Every release gets worse and worse :(

Im running 4.2.1.109 cause of the 4.5 camera issues and my LED flashes after a missed call. But it only flashes for about a minute or so so its kind of lame...lol. i remember that 4.2.0.70...i think...(was my first firmware 1.5 years ago), the LED used to flash till you cleared the the missed call...or email/sms or voicemail. Now u guys say that it doesn't flash at all. Too bad. it was the only phone on the market that i knew of that did that...and i liked it.

Nice find BTWay

Scanning for media is an issue with your media card, not the OS. The fix can be found here.

Clock, network and battery shifting is just the theme you're using. If it's that big of a deal, switch themes.

No versions since 4.5.0.37 have knocked out any sim cards and the only devices it knocked sim cards out on was TMobile.

I'm using this release on 3 different 8100's with no issues at all.

The theme is BB's own Zen theme. It's not some 3rd party hack job.

Sorry man, but .55 is the first OS that has knocked out my SIM. I'm glad all your phones work fine, mine apparently doesn't. You can chalk me up as patient 0.
