Hey guys, my dad just got a 8120 and I'm trying to help him learn the way of the BlackBerry. Questions:

1. Is DocsToGo something that's only found on OS 4.5 and above? His phone is 4.3.xx.

2. Anybody have an issue with a "loose" battery cover? The cover locks into place and everything but you can wiggle it up/down/left/right. I compared it with my own Curve, but my Curve is rigid and doesn't move.

3. On the Curve, I can press Alt+Caps+H to get a quick display showing basic info like battery level, reception, OS version, etc. Any shortcut like that for the 8120?

1. Yes, Docs To Go is 4.5 and higher only. You can update the 8120 OS to 4.5 here.

2. The Pearl has always had an issue with this.

3. On the 8120 use alt + e a c e

question 2 seems to be an especially known issue with the blackberry 8130 (at least in my experences) but have not used the 8120. My 8110 seems to be fine for the most part.

Some pearls are fine, some the battery cover is loose. It's been that way for 2 years.

Another question: does the 8120 have different colored LEDs available for its trackball? I understand that on 8100s the trackball can change colors to the rhythm of the ringtone?

No it cannot. Only the 8100 has different LED's under the trackball. The 8110/20/30 only has white.

Oh another thing: I can't seem to hide the "Turn Off" icon. Is that a new thing with the 8120?

That is theme controlled. Some themes allow you to hide it, some don't.

Hmm that's weird. It's using the BB Dimension Zen theme. But on my Curve, using the same theme I can hide that particular icon.

Sorry, I'm still a bit confused. So...it's a device AND theme controlled issue? Both the 8120 and 8320 are using the same theme. But only the 8120 has the "problem."

It's theme controlled. If the theme doesn't allow it then there is nothing you can do. It makes no difference that the 8320 theme allows it. It appears the 8120 theme doesn't allow it. It's all in how the theme was written.
