i dont understand the myth about one fact.

I live in the emirates, and my question is the following.

I cant regocnize caller id´s, my 8120 4.5 shows only the numbers.
tried out my own home phone with the following szenario.

number called from is Dubai (04) 123456

1. saved under saymen home 009714123456
-> called, but the phone just shows 04123456

2. saved under saymen home +9714123456
-> called, but the phone just shows 04123456

3. saved under saymen home 04123456
-> called, and the phone shows finally the caller id saymen, home

why is the bb not able to verify the numbers from the last digit of the number (nokias do that for example, which makes sense)
how can i change my contacts, so i can save them in an international format A N D they will be shown with name and so on??

i really need help on this.

See if adding the country code/area code helps.

Bring up the phone application by pressing the green key then press the Menu key and select Options. Scroll to and select Smart Dialing. Enter your country code and area code. Save any changes and then test.

My phone never wors right there or in kuwait. I think its a carrier translation issue.

hi there, thanks for your help. but it still doesnt work. the local network provider is just submitting the number like

04123456

so i put +971 in smart dialing, if i put 04 as an area code in then it cant work either. and what would be if somebody from abu dhabi with 02 would call me?

im surprise the bb is not regognizing numbers from the last digit. would make total sense
