Default Blackberry Messenger

Alright, while my phone is updating I'd like to ask this question. I don't have the data plan thingy, so i can't use the instant messenger (which is stupid, other phones let me do this using my texts), and when me and my girlfriend tried to add each other to the list (using pin), nothing happened. Neither of us were getting invites from each other

No data plan, = No BB Messenger.

However, with TMobile, make sure that they have added the 'feature enabler.' This is free from TMobile and will, most likely, make the BB Messenger work.

Thanks for the answer, otherwise I would've tried to enable bb messenger for another half an hour.

How do I check if I have feature enabler..enabled? And how do I add it if it isn't.

Hahah, true. I called not that long ago, and they've enabled it. I went to MyT-mobile and it's on the services list. The guy said it'll take 2 - 48 hours to turn on, but he's gonna try to "push it through," whatever that means. I got the two t-zones icons on my phone and whatnot, also got a text from Blackberry saying "Your handheld has been registered with the wireless network."

I installed AIM through Desktop Manager, and when I try to connect I get the message:
"Services not enabled for this handheld." I also tried some other free instant messenger (cant think of the name, might start with an R) and got a error with that as well. At first I tried with default settings, then I tried changing my TCP to wap.voicestream.com, and still no luck.

Is it cause I suck, or I really have to wait 2 - 48 hours?

Have you done a battery pull and resent service books?

Yes, I have done a battery pull (although my sim card fell out as I was taking it out -- hope ths didn't disrupt anything, everything seems to work fine). I have absolutely no idea what service books are. :(

I'm thinking BB messenger will be the only program that works without an actual data plan. I don't think any other messaging programs will work.

I don't think BB messenger will work without a PAID data plan. Even the T-Mobile feature enabler won't get it to work.

The feature enabler will allow you to use the OZ IM program. My T-Mo 8100 came with OZ installed. It allows you to log onto an AIM, MSN, or Yahoo IM account and send IM's that count towards your SMS bucket.

If you do not have OZ already installed on your phone, then I have no idea how to get it. You may be calling T-Mo yet again....

EDIT: and yes, I can confirm that OZ IM works without a paid data plan, with only a feature enabler, because I did not have a data plan when I first got my 8100, and I was still able to use OZ, and it counted towards my SMS messages. < --- holy run-on sentence!

Anyone know how to get OZ Instant Messenger? Or any other IM that would work with feature enabler.
