Exclamation Pearl randomly turning off

Please Login to Remove!

I have the original Pearl and It keeps shutting off randomly. I had issues for a while 2 months after I got it. I took it to an AT+T store and they said that it was working fine, cleaned the battery contacts and said it was good to go. It worked fine for many months. I am now with in 2 months of the warranty being over and it is having problems again. I called and got a replacement phone under the 1 year warranty. I transfered all my settings using the blackberry desktop manager ver 4.3. The new phone they sent me is doing the same thing as my broken one I am RMA'ing.

I went to an AT+T store tonight and they said that it was working fine. I told him about the issues and asked if I should get a new battery since the same one was used in both phones. He said that the battery would only be the problem if it wasn't holding a charge. It is holding a charge so he said it must be the phone. His suggestion was to RMA this phone too. He said that once you have RMA'ed the same phone about twice or more you can talk to them about gettting a totally different phone.

I am not sure what I should do. If I did RMA this phone I'm not sure what I would get. I really like my Pearl while it worked but I don't want to go through any more problems. My cousin has had all sorts of problems with his pearl and is now on his 4th. Neither of us have ever exposed our phones to water or harsh damage. My dad just got the Curve and my uncle has one of the older boxier looking Blackberrys.I think I may just have to RMA this replacement phone too and talk to them about getting a different phone. I hate the thought about going to the iphone but I sure do love the browser in it.

If anyone has had similar problems or has any tips on what to do all thoughts are appreciated.

I have the 8130 Pearl and have the same problems. It randomly restarts, more frequently if I'm playing music in the media player or going to a lot of web sites. I've taken unnecessary programs off. I had Google Maps on it but after it had a total failure of the OS, saying it was corrupt. I have plenty available memory (about 17MB). So far after the reinstall of the OS it's worked fine. You may want to try that. I'm sure there are instructions here at BlackBerry Forums, and others like this. I found instructions over at Crackberry.

i'm also having this problem. i bought this phone for my wife back in october, and me and her traded phones (i had a brand new blast) but i can't figure this thing out! it's been doing it since we bought it, so it obviously wasn't a memory issue like the t-mobile guy told us. the phone is completely stock. i haven't downloaded anything to it, but i just want it to stay on! it happens mostly when I'm texting =\

Well one thing to do is empty all the old text messages and emails you may receive. I've also changed the default settings from save 30 days to save 15 days. Unlike most phones the BB doesn't have a default 50 message cap on it, you may even have upwards of 300+ messages that are just taking up space. Plus the ever popular memory leak is always a good finger pointing cause.
