Default 4.5.0.81 firmware

In the thread at the top of the 8100 general discussion category by mckinneycm. It is stated that one can download the 4.5.0.81 update. But when I go into the hyperlink and look at the bottom of the screen (where the 8100 version is) I only see the 4.5.0.55 update. Am I missing something?

It's the same OS. 4.5.0.81 is the package version. 4.5.0.55 is the app version.
Two different ways to refer to the same software.

There aren't two different versions. There's just the one OS with two different "names".
You can download it here, in the thread you mentioned above.

I apologize for the misinterpretation of what I said. I meant that since you said that 4.1.0.55 is a part of 4.1.0.81. Where is it that I can find 4.1.0.81, so that I don't need to download the device manager separately?

You are not listening... and you're making this much more complicated than it needs to be.

THERE IS ONLY 1 FILE YOU NEED TO DOWNLOAD.
4.5.0.81 and 4.5.0.55 are the SAME FILE.

Think of it this way... if my name is Anthony... you can call me Anthony, or you can call me Tony. I'm still one person... with two names.
The OS you are looking for is only 1 file... with two "names".

Just follow the instructions in the thread linked to above.

The sticky refers to it as 4.5.0.81/4.5.0.55. If you read the file name you'll see that it's "release 81" app version .55. This is just RIM's naming structure. ALL OS's are named this way. Most of here on the forum refer to OS's by their app version number 4.5.0.55 or .55 for short.
