Hi I am new to Blackberry and have been supplied this through work. I want to know that if I talk on IM and then delete history does this delete it completely or is it stored on servers or on the phone memory? Secondly with text messages, when you delete them are they gone for good or can you extract them from the phone memory.
Thank you

You can delete either from the device and it is gone and irretrievable from the BB; however, your carrier likely has copies at least for some period on its servers. Likewise, if on a corporate BES device, expect that anything you can do on it can also be logged by your corporate IT department.

Thank you for this. Would I be able to delete these then from the Desktop manager or is it a case of only the IT department can clear the history? I just want to understand as I believe we have a temp folder set up, but I have been unable to find this on our servers.

Ii don't think there is any relation between your Desktop Manager and SMS and/or IMing applications or their history.

Then I would strongly advise that you not use your corporate BlackBerry for any personal correspondence.
