Wirelessly posted

Seems they removed the fill screen feature when you are viewing pictures stored on your BB

all is working fine for me except youtube & streaming, apparently its blocked by my carrier telus.

AND if you are playing music, and you receive a call, after the notification, it won't continue playing the song by itself, it just pauses.

1 more issue:

When you are playing music, and IMing on BB messenger or if any notification comes up, your music pauses and you have to manually start it again (could get very annoying if your IMing).

It's noted in the first post that the latest 4.5 OS's no longer have the preloaded wallpapers.

Click here if you really want them:

Hi guys!

I've already posted this under Rim Software in the technical forum but it has been 2 days and I've had no answers whatsoever so I'm hoping I won't get flamed by asking here...

I updated to V4.5.0.56 without issues and everything is working as it should EXCEPT that I have a weird bug in voice dialing... ever since the upgrade, the VD software does not see the attached number for a few totally random contacts. I tried deleting some of them and entering them manually afterward to no avail. This is a big problem for me since I use voice dialing all the time since it is illegal to hold a phone in your hands while driving here in Quebec.

Any idea, help, insight or sympathetic feeling will be greatly appreciated as I would rather not rollback to 4.3.

Ok... Found out that all the contacts that where not properly recognised by the system had accents in them... I tried zeroing the device and the device had no problems with accents after that...

i have an Alltel 8130, 4.5.0.56 with DTM 4.5.0.15. BES synching with Lotus Notes 7.0
After upgrading I have duplicate entries in my address book. I've gone thru Advanced Backup and deleted the adress book and "all" address book, and I do a battery pull. The address book entries are still on the 8130, even though the DTM says it's empty? if I synch, then I et duplicate entries again.
Anybody else have this problem/ suggestions?

Installed this version w/no issues. New features are working OK so far.

Happy to say that for me this was a relatively boring/uneventful upgrade.

When I tried to install this, the desktop manager said that a fatal error had occurred. My BB is still off and the red light is still solid though. Anyone know why?

EDIT: The DM said it was connecting to the ROM blah blah, and it just stopped.

The file is taking forever to download for me. it only gets to 38% complete (3 tries) then the download box closes. When I go to install the file, I get the message

"error reading the setup initialization file"

Rrrrr. Why does Bell have to be so far behind the times!

This upgrade has been a nightmare. Actually updating the device to 4.5 was no problems. Afterwards I talked to my administrator (I'm on BES) and they re-activated me there.

Sure enough no HTML email! Then I read that I had to get my service books resent. My administrator does that and then re-activates me again. Sure enough my email is all working fine but NO HTML email! I don't get what are the exact steps. Also, are there different steps for BES and BIS. I understand when most people say to resend your service books they are on BIS and just do it online. BES users are unable to do that.

Do I have to manually delete my service books on the phone somehow? I'd rather not keep on going to my administrator for this but I am just unable to see HTML email and I also don't have the Option for it under the 'General Options' section under Options for my mail account. I am definitely on v4.5.0.56 for the phone and I see the upgraded media player, etc.

Please advise.

Once you resend your service books, you should have two new options under "Options > Email Settings" in the Messages app: "Enable HTML Email" and "Download Images Automatically". Set them both to "Yes" and you should have your HTML email.

Only newly sent emails will be viewable as HTML; emails already downloaded will be seen as plain text.

Yeah I was saying that I don't see those options. Do you have to have service books deleted manually on your phone before they are re-sent by my BES administrator? My administrator just re-sent them and deleted me off BES and added me again. I then re-add myself thorugh the Enterprise Activation setup and it says its Complete but still no HTML email.

HTML on BES accounts requires BES version 4.1.6 and the feature must be enabled. Most BES environments aren't yet updated. Check with your BES admin. All BIS accounts support html.

Does anyone know how to get rid of the clouds background when you look at applications?

Welcome to the forums!

Just go to the Media app and go into pictures. You can set a picture for wallpaper.

Thanks, but I am not speaking of the home screen. I have a theme (Had it for a couple months), but after I just updated with this new O.S. whenever I click on applications the picture of the clouds shows up in the background. Normally I wouldn't care, but it is very difficult to see the icons with that background and I would rather not change my theme.

Sounds like an issue with the theme and the OS. What is the theme?

Halo zen. I also tried it with another them and the same thing happens. It seems it goes back to the BB zen theme partially. The cloud background is also not covering the whole screen. Just where the icons are.

I guess it's due to the theme being developed prior to the new O.S. Is it necessary to have this update. Am I really missing out on anything big? because otherwise I'll just revert back to the old O.S.

HTML email, updated browser, Documents To Go, new fonts are but a few features. Personally, I'd never change OS's due to a theme compatiblity issue but to each their own.

Thanks John for your response. I'll have to go talk to my BES administrator once again.

On a side note another problem that I have is Sent messages are showing up in my Messages account. I definitely have 'Hide Sent Messages' checked yet they are still there. Is this also a behavior because of the Service Books issue or something? Is there a resolution or an answer that I can do myself on my phone or online?

Are these "sent messages" actually the sent message with the checkmark or are you getting a received message when you send one?

Well I seem to have both. I have BES Empower which seems to put my sent messages with a checkbox for my business account and my personal GMAIL account in a new icon comes in as a new message when I send them from my gmail.

Thank you John for the quick reply!

As for it being a checkbox in my BES as sent messages do you have a reason for that one? I have a hunch its something with my service books.

Thanks.

Your "BES" messages? You have a "Messages" folder. ALL messages go to the "Messages" folder. It's not really a BES folder.

Yes, since I use BES Empower it seperates my BES emails into just the BES Mailbox icon. I do have a central Messages folder and did notice that seems to work correctly and not show my sent messages in there. However my BES Empower Mailbox has the same 'Hide Sent Messages' checked however still shows them with a checkbox.

That's likely an issue with Empower and it's compatibility with OS 4.5. I don't think they have updated their app for OS 4.5.

Thanks John. I found there's a setting for BESMailbox now under Options however unchecking the Sent Items folder to display doesn't seem to fix it. I'll continue to play around with it and hopefully figure it out.

HTML email isn't working as it should...I have resent service books, and have it set to show HTML and to automatically download images. However, all images in an email are not automatically downloaded. Some appear, some do not.

Any ideas?
