Default Os: 8130 4.5.0.82/4.5.0.56

Please Login to Remove!

4.5 has been released for the 8130 via Virgin Mobile:

Download here:

https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...8C02E28A0462C1

Software For BlackBerry® Pearl (TM) 8130 smartphone
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.5.0.82 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.5.0.82
Consisting of:
* Applications: 4.5.0.56
* Software Platform: 3.2.0.44
* File name: 8130AMEA_PBr4.5.0_rel82_PL3.2.0.44_A4.5.0.56_Virgi n_Mobile.exe
* File size: 72.84MB

Instructions for installing on ANY carrier's 8130:

1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager installed.
https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...93E4F3BB068C22
2. Then Download the above mentioned OS file to the PC and install it to the PC by running the file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.
The process takes about 45 minutes to an hour depending on how much data you have to backup and restore during the process. Once it's done loading the new OS it will reboot (it may do this twice during the entire process.) You will see a white screen with an hourglass for up to 20 minutes at a time while the DM says "waiting for initialization."
If you end up with a white screen with small icons and the number 507, simply connect to DM again and run application loader again and it should load the OS to the device.

To find previous versions of the OS for this device, click http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...3-0-127-a.html

Hmm, I'm running 4.5.0.66 and I haven't had any problems. This would actually be a downgrade for me, right?

I am also running 4.5.0.66 with no problems at all. I was under the impression that it was beta software. I'm confused why RIM would officially release an earlier build. Why wouldn't they officially release a later build? I'm having to assume that 4.5.0.66 addresses bugs that were found in .56?

.66 is still considered beta until someone releases it.

OK dl dudes, now that an official 8130 version is released many more will acquire it, and with that I expect a list of new features and an expose as to how they work. I've read some of the beta forum posts but I don't do beta myself. Post away.........

Yes, it is included, however it's not installed by default. When you run the Application Loader you have to make sure that DTG is checked.

Is there a changelog somewhere that tells what they've changed with each version?

Nope, sorry.

I've never even seen a full features list from RIM for any OS.

Okay, thanks. Sorry for the noob question, but what are the main differences between 4.3 and 4.5?

The biggest one, if you are on BIS (or a corporate BES with the latest software) is HTML email.

There are some changes within some menus (like the Calendar Options), too.

You also get Docs To Go standard edition (I think), which allows you to open Word and Excel docs on your BB and save the files on your media card.
