Unhappy Dropped Pearl 8100 - white screen

Please Login to Remove!

I dropped my 8100. Once I picked it up, the screen faded to white in about 5 seconds time. Im no rocket scientist but I did have a laptop screen break on my once and it seemed like the same effect.

So the phone works, rings, I can make calls/receive them, but only the backlight works. The rest of the screen is white.

Should I just go buy another screen or could there be something else wrong?

FYI, Ive already did a battery pull 2x since this happened to no avail.

Sounds like it does need a new LED screen. For the cost and the repair involved, a new BB might be the better choice. Still, a new screen would be cheaper.

I just checked ebay and the replacement OEM screen with the torx screwdriver and case removal tool is $24.95 and $6.95 shipped. It linked a video to youtube on how to do it. It looks like a 15 minute job! What do you mean the "cost and repair involved"? Am I in the right forum here or am I deprived of oxygen? I have a Pearl 8100.

That's a decent deal.

To have it done for you, it would cost about $100, so doing it yourself is a decent deal if you are careful. The double-sided sticky tape can be difficult, but nothing impossible.

Tech80 - have you ever replaced the screen before? Oxygen deprivation can be a terrible thing.

Oh. So you have met my ex-wife?

I've never replaced the BB screen but I did replace my laptop screen. I would say the blackberry is probably a little more delicate but hey, with that youtube video walking me through it - Im pretty sure I will be fine. I ordered a screen off ebay this morning. I bought the $24.95 one that comes with the tools. I paid for "rush" delivery. LOL. I never thought a little device smaller than my foot would rule my life like this. Watching the little red light blink indicating new PIN, text, email, or BB messenger messages and not being able to check it is pure torture!

You'll be fine. Enjoy yourself.

Have a sixpack before you get started to celebrate.

The screen came in the mail today, replaced it in about 10 minutes

I had to go to several stores to find a T7/T8 bit. The BB is back up and going!!
