Only one word can describe your level of awesomeness... Unfortunately all human languages are too limited to convey this word, someday hopefully we will evolve enough to come up with this word, until then you are it.

Awesome job, thank you.

Blingball is awesome! loving it. hopefully for the future a random option and a way to have it so that the white led doesn't turn on when the keyboard does

As mentioned before, you can simply remove the trackball and place a small piece of electrical tape over the white LED.

See the "How to Clean Your Trackball" sticky thread for how to remove it and it also tells you which is the white LED.

Good luck!

Almost done with the updates. This will have the fix implemented for the application switcher and also the random color options. I am also working on a "disco" feature which will actually run the ball through a pattern of colors when on. RIMs documentation on what the actual pattern can consist of sucks balls so I have to do this all with trial and error. It also sucks because the device simulators do not simulate a colored trackball so I have to load onto a device every time.

Ok here it is. BlingBall 0.9b2. Troy, could you update the OTA host when you get a chance. Thanks.

Code:
BlingBall Changelog

DATE REVISION COMMENTS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
08 SEP 2008 0.9b2 added: Disco feature to rotate the trackball color through a pattern.
08 SEP 2008 0.9b2 added: Random feature to change trackball color at each backlight on event.
08 SEP 2008 0.9b2 changed: blingballclass now extends Application instead of UiApplication since no screen exists. This fixes the problem of having it appear in the task switcher.
08 SEP 2008 0.9b2 changed: blingball_autostartup now runs at startup tier 6 to ensure optionsprovider is inserted before the main application runs.
03 SEP 2008 0.9b1 Initial Release

rgeorge, I've updated the first post with the new zip file. I just added the new one and left the old one too. Once everyone says the new one is working fine, we can remove the old one. Let's try and keep the first post up to date with all the latest info.

Yeh it wouldnt let me edit my original attachments.

BTW: Think your daughter will love the new disco mode! This alone is why the name "BlingBall" really works now!

Ahh, just when I'm days away from receiving my 8120 this comes out. Not having a color pearl was one of the things holding me back from upgrading my 8100.

Sounds like you did a great job though, and made a lot of people happy. Awesome!!

So what does everyone think this needs before I would call it version 1.0?

I already know how to fix the issue that is requiring a battery pull for the options to show up so that will for sure be in 1.0. The only other item would be to change the way the custom color is set.

Any other thoughts?

LOL, I was going to delete this program. didn't really see the need, though it is a nifty little program--then I switched it to disco. I'm keeping it-:P

Do I need to delete the earlier version before upgrading to the new one, or will it just overwrite itself?

You can just upgrade and it will overwrite itself.

If you used the alx/cod to install the first beta, and you're using the new alx/cod you'll need to delete the app from the BB first before loading the new. For some reason the apploader doesn't see it as an upgrade.

If you're doing OTA, it doesn't matter. It will overwrite.
