Default couple of issues

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

My blackberry 8130 from Verizon is freezing on me. I will make a call and it will say connected, but nothing happens. I have removed the battery a couple of times and that seems to fix it temporarily. Any ideas?

Also, will this phone learn new words? On prior phones, once you typed in a new word that wasnt in the phones dictionary, it would remember that word. So far, this one doesnt seem to do that.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the forums.

What OS do you have on the device? Might be worth a reload (or upgrade if you can find 4.5 somewhere since the vendors keep pulling it from their download sites).

As for the learning new words, yes, it will. Just takes time. If you have a backup from a previous SureType device, you can do an Advanced Restore of the Custom Dictionary to the new device to speed up the process.

It looks as if I have v 4.3.0.97

Should I do the upgrade link at the top of this page or will that not work for Verizon?

Thanks for the advice on learning feature - sounds as if I just need to type in the new words a few times.........

Well, the sticky thread at the top of this forum (for OS 4.5) would work....if US Cellular hadn't pulled the 4.5 OS from their site. You could install a newer 4.3 OS from another vendor, like Sprint. Follow the steps in the sticky, except downlaod the Sprint OS from here:

Sprint Software Downloads - PDA/ Smart Phones - Blackberry® Pearl 8130

As long as you follow the steps exactly (make sure you delete the vendor.xml) and it may fix the problem.
